72% of parents say they are willing to partner with their church's student leaders to help their student grow spiritually, and 41% of churchgoing parents with a child in grades 6-12 name spiritual well-being as their biggest priority for their student's future (Lifeway Research, 2025).

What share of teens are part of a religious community?

41% of U.S. teens said they are currently part of an organized religious or spiritual community (Springtide Research Institute, 2025). In a separate Springtide 2025 reading, 33% of teens and young adults ages 13 to 25 are religious Nones.

About this data

Leader Insights collects statistics about U.S. churches from published research. Every number is checked against the wording of the original source before it is published, and each statistic links back to the study it came from. Different studies define the same topic differently, so figures from different sources are not directly comparable; each is labeled with its publisher and year.
